It uses the ASMedia ASM1061 chipset with 48-bit LBA support and port multiplier capability. A low-profile bracket and SATA cable are included for compact builds. Drivers cover Windows XP through Windows 8 on 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

Practical limits of the PCIe x1 interface

The x1 lane caps total throughput well below the combined 6 Gb/s per port, so four drives cannot run at full speed simultaneously. SATA revision 3.0 compliance ensures backward compatibility with SATA I and II devices. Optical drives are supported alongside hard disks and SSDs. The card fits low-profile chassis without extra clearance.

Replaces add-in cards limited to SATA II

Upgrading from a 3 Gb/s controller or a single external port restores 6 Gb/s internal and external connectivity in one slot.
