The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server built for the PowerEdge MX and M1000e chassis. It carries two Intel Xeon Platinum 8260 processors, each with 24 cores running at 2.4 GHz and a 3.9 GHz turbo. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 16 slots, with a maximum capacity of 1.5 TB.

Storage and network limits

The PERC H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 over SATA and SAS interfaces. Two 960 GB SATA SSDs are installed in the 2.5-inch bays. The Broadcom 57810S-K daughter card provides dual-port 10 Gb connectivity. The blade form factor means it cannot operate outside a compatible MX or M1000e enclosure.

Remote management and missing parts

iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full out-of-band management, firmware updates and virtual console access over the network. The Matrox G200 graphics core provides basic 2D output with 8 MB of video memory.
