The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2603 V3 six-core processors running at 1.6 GHz. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory installed across the twelve available DIMM slots. The system includes a PERC H330 RAID controller and dual 750 W redundant hot-swap power supplies for continuous operation.

Storage capacity and headroom

Eight 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives and the H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 for flexible data protection. The controller and chassis are rated for up to 80 TB of raw hard-drive capacity. Memory can be expanded to 384 GB using the twelve DDR4 slots populated with 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB modules up to 2400 MT/s.

Thermals noise and power draw

Redundant 750 W power supplies share the load and allow one unit to fail without downtime. The 2U form factor uses front-to-back airflow to cool the dual processors, memory and drive bays under normal data-centre conditions. Four onboard 1 GbE ports and up to five PCIe slots (three PCIe 3.0 and two PCIe 2.0) add connectivity without exceeding the thermal design.
