Dual Xeon 1U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R630 is a 1U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2637 V3 quad-core processors running at 3.5 GHz. It ships with 32 GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots and includes two 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives managed by a PERC H730 RAID controller. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies support continuous operation in dense data-centre environments.

Sustained load thermal design

Redundant hot-swap power supplies and the 1U airflow path keep both CPUs at 3.5 GHz during prolonged workloads without throttling. The H730 controller with 1 GB cache maintains RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 performance across the installed drives while the iDRAC8 remote management monitors thermals and power draw in real time.

PCIe 3.0 and 12 Gbps SAS limits

Three PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot provide expansion for networking or accelerator cards, but the backplane tops out at 12 Gbps SAS or 6 Gbps SATA per drive bay. The eight 2.5-inch bays max out at 14 TB per drive, so total raw capacity is limited by the bay count and interface speed rather than the controller RAID levels.
