Dual Xeon Gold 5317 compute density

The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors running at 3.0 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. Each chip provides twelve cores, giving twenty-four cores in total for parallel workloads. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. Ten 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives connect through a PERC H755 controller with 8 GB NV cache and battery backup.

Redundant platinum power and thermal design

Two 1400 W platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in a hot-swap redundant configuration. The 1U chassis uses Dell's 15th generation thermal architecture to move air across the processors, memory and drive bays within a single rack unit. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides out-of-band monitoring of temperatures, fan speeds and power draw without loading the host operating system. The front bezel and ready rails are included for standard rack installation.

Sustained throughput for virtualization

The PERC H755 controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, allowing the ten SAS drives to be arranged for capacity, redundancy or a mix of both. The Broadcom 57412 dual-port 10 GbE SFP+ OCP 3.0 adapter delivers consistent network bandwidth for storage traffic and virtual machine migration. Memory can be expanded to 2 TB across thirty-two DDR4 slots when workloads grow beyond the installed 256 GB.
