Compact 1U server for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for space-constrained data centres that need dual-socket performance. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors running at 2.4 GHz, each providing 16 cores, and 512 GB of DDR4 ECC memory across 16 DIMM slots. Eight 2.5-inch SAS drives deliver 1.8 TB each on a PERC H745 controller with 4 GB NV cache. Redundant 1400 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise management are included.

Suited for virtualisation and HPC clusters

This configuration fits teams running virtualised workloads, high-performance computing or dense analytics where core count and memory capacity matter more than GPU acceleration. The quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 adapter covers baseline networking. Buyers who need GPU compute, 10 GbE or faster networking, or more than 1 TB of system memory should evaluate other platforms. The single 1U chassis also limits internal drive bays to eight 2.5-inch slots.

PERC H745 RAID controller with 4 GB cache

The storage controller defines whether this server matches the storage topology you need. The H745 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with a battery-backed 4 GB non-volatile cache. It manages the eight installed 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives at 12 Gb/s and can address additional SAS or SATA devices. If your deployment requires NVMe-only arrays or a different RAID feature set, the controller choice makes this unit unsuitable.
