The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits a standard 2U rack space and provides twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug drive bays for SAS or SATA media. A single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor runs at 1.9 GHz on the Intel C610 chipset. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across twenty-four DIMM slots, with memory speed dependent on the processor capability. The system ships without an operating system.

H330 RAID controller and three 4 TB SAS drives

A Dell PERC H330 12 Gbps RAID controller manages the included three 4 TB 7.2K SAS drives and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The controller occupies a dedicated slot, leaving up to six PCIe 3.0 expansion slots available for additional cards. Hot-plug trays are supplied with the drives, allowing replacement without shutting down the server. Maximum raw capacity across all bays reaches 52 TB.

Dual 750 W redundant supplies

Two 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy so the server remains running if one unit fails. A DVD-ROM drive is fitted for media installation.
