This 2U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors running at 2.1 GHz, each providing twelve cores for a total of twenty-four threads. The system targets organisations that need dense, dual-socket performance for virtualisation, database or high-performance computing workloads in a standard rack footprint.

PCIe and SAS interface constraints

The PERC H730P controller delivers 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA connectivity across eight 2.5-inch drive bays, while the Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports. Expansion is limited to the PCIe lanes exposed by the C620 chipset and the physical space inside the 2U chassis, so additional accelerator cards or network adapters must fit within those boundaries.

256 GB DDR4 with 3 TB ceiling

Eight 32 GB registered ECC modules populate eight of twenty-four DIMM slots, leaving sixteen slots free for growth up to the 3 TB maximum supported by the platform. The two 300 GB 10 K SAS drives provide fast boot and scratch space, but capacity-hungry workloads will require populating the remaining six bays or attaching external storage.
