The Dell PowerEdge R740 8LFF packs two Xeon Gold 6246R processors running at 3.4 GHz, each with 16 cores and 35.75 MB cache. The system ships with 768 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory, leaving headroom to scale toward the 3 TB maximum. It is aimed at organisations that need dense, multi-threaded performance in a 2U rack footprint.

8-bay 3.5" chassis with PERC H730P RAID

Eight 3.5-inch drive bays accept SATA hard drives that are not included, allowing you to choose capacity and redundancy. The installed PERC H730P controller manages RAID across those bays, while a 10 GbE two-port 562T adapter handles high-throughput networking. Dual 750 W power supplies and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management are fitted as standard.

Redundant power and enterprise remote management

Dual 750 W supplies share the load, keeping the system running if one unit fails. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides out-of-band monitoring, power control and firmware updates without touching the host OS. Integrated graphics handle basic console output, so no discrete GPU is required for routine administration.
