The ESTONE PCIE24ABK adds four USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop PC through a single PCI Express x1 slot. It uses a NEC chipset and is aimed at users who need more high-speed ports for external drives, cameras or peripherals. The card fits x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots and draws power from the slot itself.

Limited to 5 Gbps aggregate throughput

The USB 3.0 interface tops out at 5 Gbps total bandwidth shared across all four ports. Real-world speed depends on the connected device and system load, so simultaneous heavy transfers will divide the available throughput. The card is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.x devices at their native rates.

No external power connector required

The card is powered entirely from the PCIe slot and supplies up to 5 V / 3 A total to attached devices. Each port can deliver up to 2 A, but the combined limit means high-draw peripherals may need their own power adapters.
