The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built for general-purpose workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processor delivering 10 cores at 2.3 GHz and 20 virtual threads. 32 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed across the 16 available DIMM slots. The platform supports a second processor to reach 36 total cores and 1 TB maximum memory capacity.

Sustained-load behaviour

Dual 550 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy during continuous operation. The eight 2.5-inch drive bays hold two 146 GB 15 K 6 Gbps SAS drives supplied, leaving room for six more drives. The Smart HBA H240 controller manages RAID 0, 1 or 5 across 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA links. Matrox G200 graphics handle basic display output without adding thermal load.

SAS interface limits

The H240 controller caps SAS throughput at 12 Gb per second and SATA at 6 Gb per second. RAID 5 rebuild times grow with each additional drive beyond the two installed. Memory speed is bound by the processor capability up to 2400 MT/s. Expanding to the second processor unlocks the remaining eight DIMM slots and the full 1 TB ceiling.
