Dense 1U rack server for space-constrained workloads

The HP ProLiant DL360 G9 fits two Xeon E5-2643v3 six-core processors running at 3.4GHz into a single rack unit. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across twenty-four DIMM slots. Dual 1TB 7.2K SAS drives connect through a Smart HBA H240ar controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Redundant 500W hot-swap power supplies are included.

Upgrades from single-socket

Adding the second E5-2643v3 doubles the core count to twelve physical cores with twenty-four threads in hyperthreading mode. The jump is worth it when workloads scale across many threads and the 1U form factor must stay unchanged. Memory can grow from the installed 16GB toward the 3TB maximum using 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB DDR4 modules up to 2400MT/s. The four LFF bays accept additional 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives.

Limited by 12Gb SAS backbone and Gen9 platform

The H240ar controller provides 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA connectivity, capping drive throughput at those link speeds. DDR4 memory speed depends on the installed processor capability and will not exceed 2400MT/s. The Intel C610 chipset and Gen9 architecture do not support newer instruction sets or memory technologies beyond the listed specifications. Integrated Matrox G200 graphics offer only basic display output.
