Server identity

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built for data-centre workloads. Bundled controller and bays

The P440 4 GB FBWC controller adds flash-backed write cache that protects in-flight data during power loss and accelerates RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 arrays. Sixteen 2.5-inch drive trays with screws are supplied, but no drives are installed. An optional universal media bay or an additional eight-bay cage can occupy the third bay position for 24-bay density. Integrated Matrox G200eH2 graphics with 16 MB video memory handles basic console output.

Capacity and headroom

The platform supports up to 3 TB of DDR4 across the 24 slots when populated with 64 GB modules and compatible v4 processors. Current 96 GB configuration leaves ample headroom for virtualisation, database or file-serving roles. Dual-socket design scales to 36 total cores with higher-core-count Xeon v3 or v4 chips. Storage performance is limited by the 12 Gb/s SAS interface and the 16-bay count unless the optional expansion cage is added.
