Capacity and Workload Fit

This 2U rack server ships with a single eight-core Xeon E5-2630 v3 running at 2.4GHz and 96GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots. Two 1TB SAS drives and an H240ar controller provide redundant storage out of the box. It suits virtualisation hosts, database nodes or backup targets that need dense compute in a standard rack footprint. Buyers who want more storage bays or dual-processor performance from day one should look at larger configurations.

Interface and Storage Limits

The H240ar controller handles 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA links with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The eight SFF bays accept 2.5-inch drives only; NVME devices can be added to bay two while a universal media bay fits bay three. Maximum installed memory is capped at 96GB with the current processor, although the platform supports up to 3TB when both CPU sockets are populated. SAS drives are limited to 6Gbps on the supplied 7.2K units.

Installation Notes

Redundant 500W hot-swap power supplies and tool-less drive trays make hardware replacement straightforward. Memory must be installed in matched sets per processor, so populate all twelve slots per CPU for best bandwidth. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics provides basic console output only; remote management relies on the integrated iLO interface. No operating system is included, so plan for hypervisor or OS deployment before racking.
