The Intel Xeon 6746E is a 112-core, 112-thread server CPU built for dense compute workloads. It targets data-centre operators running highly parallel applications such as cloud-native services, large-scale virtualisation or high-throughput analytics. The processor fits the FCLGA 4710 socket and uses a 3 nm manufacturing process. It is not suited for single-threaded tasks that demand maximum clock speed.

96 MB L3 cache and eight-channel DDR5-6400

The chip provides 96 MB of shared L3 cache and an eight-channel DDR5-6400 memory controller supporting up to 4 TB of system memory. This configuration handles large in-memory databases and multi-tenant containers with ample bandwidth headroom. Memory capacity or channel count limits appear when workloads exceed the 4 TB ceiling or require more than eight channels per socket. PCIe 5.0 lanes and four UPI links at 16 GT/s serve multi-socket scaling and fast I/O.

250 W TDP with 2.0 GHz base and 2.7 GHz turbo

At a 250 W thermal design power the processor runs at a 2.0 GHz base frequency and can reach a 2.7 GHz maximum turbo frequency across its cores. Typical server cooling solutions manage this heat output with moderate fan speeds, keeping acoustic levels within standard rack expectations. Power draw scales with active core count and AVX intensity, so sustained all-core loads will sit near the rated envelope.
