The MAIWO K8AA is an 8-bay direct-attached storage device that accepts 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and SSDs. It presents up to 128TB of total capacity across eight drives to Windows, macOS and Linux hosts. The unit targets creators, small offices and home-lab builders who need redundant or high-capacity local storage without a full NAS operating system.
Tool-free drive trays and automatic fan control
Drives slide into the front-loading trays without screws; a supplied screwdriver secures the tray latch if desired. An internal temperature sensor keeps the fan off below 45°C, runs it at low speed between 46°C and 47°C, and steps to high speed at 48°C or above. The most common issue is forgetting to initialise the RAID mode on the front touchpad before the operating system sees the volume, which leaves the array in JBOD.
Verify host port and drive height before ordering
The enclosure connects via USB-C at up to 5Gbps or through the eSATA port; a USB-C to USB-A cable is included for older ports. UASP support requires a compatible host controller to reach the quoted 70 percent speed improvement. Only SATA drives are supported; IDE drives will not fit. Check that 3.5-inch drives are no thicker than 26mm and that 2.5-inch drives match one of the listed height allowances.
