The Minisforum X1-255 is a new barebone mini PC built around an AMD Ryzen 7 255 processor with 16 threads and 32 GB of DDR5 memory. A 1 TB drive is already installed. It targets users who need a small desktop for productivity, light gaming or a software-router appliance.

OCuLink uses the internal M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slot

The single OCuLink port delivers PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth for an external GPU, but it occupies the only M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD slot and is not hot-swappable. Video outputs comprise HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0 and two USB4 ports driving up to four displays. Wired networking is limited to 2.5 GbE.

Straightforward assembly with one cabling constraint

Adding an eGPU means removing the pre-installed SSD and routing the OCuLink cable while the system is powered off. The chassis uses large side and bottom vents for 3D airflow, so clearance around those surfaces is required. No other internal expansion bays are present.
