It accepts M-key and B+M key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths, making it useful for technicians who need to read, clone or repurpose bare modules without installing them internally. The enclosure is powered entirely from the USB bus, so no external supply is required.

Build and daily use

An aluminium alloy shell acts as a heatsink for the RTL9210B controller, and the enclosure automatically throttles or pauses transfers if the drive overheats, returning to normal operation once the SSD cools. A tool-free sliding cover lets you swap drives in seconds, and both a USB Type-C and a USB 3.1 Type-A cable are included for broad host compatibility.

Check before you buy

The adapter reaches its quoted 10 Gbps NVMe or 6 Gbps SATA throughput only when the host port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 3; older USB 3.0 ports will limit speeds to roughly 500 MB/s. New SSDs must be initialised in the operating system’s disk management utility before they appear, and the enclosure does not work with mSATA, PCIe AHCI or non-M.2 form factors.
