The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server equipped with four Intel Xeon E7-8890 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz with 3.4 GHz turbo. It targets organisations running memory-intensive databases, virtualisation clusters or analytics workloads that demand high core counts and large memory capacity in a single chassis.

Scales to 12 TB DDR4 across 96 slots

The system ships with 384 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory installed across 48 modules, leaving 48 additional slots for expansion up to 12 TB. Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays connect to a PERC H730P controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, while a quad-port network daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links. Four 1100 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC8 Enterprise remote management are included.

With 96 total cores and a memory subsystem designed for 2400 MHz DDR4, the platform maintains consistent performance during extended OLTP, SAP HANA or SQL Server runs. The H730P controller's 2 GB battery-backed cache absorbs write bursts, and the redundant power supplies keep all processors and memory online without throttling during continuous operation.
