Synology RS2818RP+ memory kit

Upgrade from lower-capacity or non-ECC DIMMs

The kit replaces smaller or non-ECC memory that limits multitasking and data integrity on the RS2818RP+. Moving to 64GB lets the system hold more VMs and larger caches without swapping. The ECC function corrects single-bit errors that standard modules would miss. Backward compatibility with 2133MHz and 2400MHz buses means the kit also works if the chassis originally shipped with slower DIMMs.

Tool-less DIMM installation

Installation requires opening the chassis, seating each module in the 288-pin slots until the latches click, then closing the cover. No heat spreaders are present, so clearance is not an issue. The main risk is mixing these ECC UDIMMs with registered or non-ECC sticks, which prevents the system from posting. Populating all four channels with identical modules avoids timing mismatches.
