Four USB 3.0 ports on one PCIe x1 slot

This RIITOP expansion card adds four USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop PC through a single PCIe x1 connection. It uses a Renesas UPD720201 controller and is aimed at users who need more high-speed ports for drives, cameras, printers or VR headsets. The card draws all power from the motherboard, so no extra cables are required. It supports Windows 11, 10, 8.x and Windows Server 2012 through 2022, plus Ubuntu Linux.

Shared 5 Gbps bandwidth and legacy support

All four ports share a total 5 Gbps bandwidth ceiling set by the USB 3.0 interface and the single-lane PCIe link. The controller is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices, so older peripherals still work. Each port can deliver up to 10 W at 5 V and 2 A, with a combined limit of 40 W across the card. High-draw devices that exceed the motherboard slot power budget may not run reliably.

Passive heatsink and slot-powered design

An integrated aluminium heatsink covers the controller to keep temperatures down during sustained transfers. The card fits a standard low-profile bracket and occupies one rear slot. Because it needs no auxiliary power connector, installation is limited to seating the card and securing the bracket. Buyers who need more than four ports or dedicated high-current charging should look at powered hubs or cards with external power input.
