The Synology RS826RP+ is a 1U rackmount NAS built around a quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor at 2.2 GHz with 16GB DDR4 memory. It ships fully assembled and tested with four 20TB Synology Plus drives providing 80TB raw capacity plus 800GB of enterprise cache. Four integrated 1GbE ports support link aggregation and failover for reliable business storage in remote or edge locations.

Verify rack space, network and expansion needs

Confirm you have a standard 19-inch rack with at least 1U of vertical space and a depth that accommodates the 492.6 mm chassis. Ensure your switch or router can provide up to four 1GbE connections for the onboard ports. If you anticipate adding 10GbE or 25GbE networking, M.2 SSD caching or both, reserve the single PCIe Gen3 slot and check Synology compatibility lists for supported adapter cards. An optional RX426 expansion unit can later double bay count to eight.

Hot-swap bays, redundant power and daily operation

Four hot-swappable bays accept 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs so failed drives can be replaced without downtime. Redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. Front-panel LEDs show power, drive and network status at a glance. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports allow quick attachment of external backup targets or peripherals. The web-based management interface handles DHCP and all configuration through a browser.
