A single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 with 12 cores at 2.3 GHz and 32 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory handles virtualization, database and general-purpose tasks. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies keep the platform running during a supply failure.

Steady throughput under load

The B140i software RAID controller manages the two installed 500 GB 7.2 K SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10 without a dedicated hardware cache. Sustained disk I/O therefore depends on the mechanical drives rather than a buffered write-back. DDR4 memory runs at up to 2400 MT/s per DIMM slot, limited by the processor memory controller, so bandwidth scales predictably as all 24 slots are populated across both CPU sockets.

Choose by controller constraint

The B140i supports SATA drives only; SAS, NVME or hardware RAID acceleration are not available on this controller. Buyers who need hardware RAID with battery-backed cache or who plan to populate bays with SAS or NVME devices must select a different controller option. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics provide basic console output only.
