10Gbps PCIe network adapter
This TRENDnet card converts a free PCI Express 3.0 x4 slot into a single 10 Gigabit Ethernet port. It supports selectable link speeds of 10Gbps, 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps over twisted-pair cabling. The adapter targets workstations and servers that need higher throughput than standard gigabit connections provide.
Low-profile brackets and RJ45 connector
A standard-height bracket and a low-profile bracket are included, allowing installation in full-size or slim chassis. The single RJ45 port accepts Cat5e for 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps links up to 100 metres, Cat6 for 10Gbps up to 55 metres and Cat6A for 10Gbps up to 100 metres. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to 70°C with 90% maximum non-condensing humidity.
Cable-length limits for each speed tier
At 10Gbps the copper medium restricts reach to 55 metres on Cat6 and 100 metres on Cat6A, while 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps run the full 100 metres on Cat5e. Jumbo frames up to 16KB are supported for larger packet payloads. The card requires a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot; narrower or older slots will reduce available bandwidth.
