It is built for Dell PowerEdge servers and compatible storage arrays that accept hot-swap 3.5 inch SAS drives. The bare-drive packaging suits system integrators and IT teams refreshing or expanding existing arrays. Home desktop builders without a SAS backplane or HBA cannot use this drive.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

As a 7.2K Nearline SAS drive it draws typical enterprise nearline power and produces the acoustic profile expected of a 7200 RPM 3.5 inch mechanical disk in a server chassis. The hot-swap tray design allows replacement without powering down the enclosure, keeping airflow and thermal balance unchanged during maintenance. No additional cooling or noise-dampening accessories are included or required beyond standard server airflow.

Hot-swap tray simplifies maintenance

The drive ships in a hot-swap tray so technicians can insert or remove it while the system runs, reducing downtime during drive replacement or capacity upgrades. No mounting screws, cables, adapters or management software are bundled; the tray itself is the only accessory.
