It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core processor at 3.4GHz, 96GB of DDR4 memory and two 1TB 7.2K SATA drives. Dual 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies and the B140i software RAID controller complete the base configuration. The system supports up to two processors and 24 DIMM slots for future expansion.

Suits single-socket workloads needing memory

The installed 96GB of DDR4 memory fills the maximum supported capacity for a single processor, so this unit suits virtualisation hosts, database nodes or application servers that need large memory within one socket. Buyers who need more than 96GB of memory or who require hardware RAID acceleration should look at a different configuration. The B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA drives only.

96GB DDR4 maximum with one CPU

The single installed Xeon E5-2643 v3 limits total system memory to 96GB across the 12 DIMM slots assigned to that processor. Adding a second processor would unlock the remaining 12 slots and raise the ceiling toward the platform maximum. DDR4 ECC registered modules up to 2400MT/s are the only supported memory type.
