The iStarUSA T-5K3525U-SA converts a single 5.25 inch bay into one 2.5 inch and one 3.5 inch trayless hot-swap SATA drive slot. It also adds two front USB 3.0 ports for external device access. The unit is built from stainless steel with an ABS front panel and includes a key lock for physical security.

SATA interface limits

The cage passes through SATA I, II and III signals at up to 6.0 Gb/s, so drive speed is capped by the SATA revision your drive and controller support. No protocol conversion or RAID logic is provided inside the cage. USB 3.0 ports are wired separately and do not share bandwidth with the SATA lanes.

Installation notes

Mount the cage into a standard 5.25 inch opening using the supplied screws, then connect internal SATA data and power cables to the rear connectors. Drives slide in directly without trays; the anti-vibration silicon rubbers seat against the drive sides. The 2.5 inch slot only accepts drives up to 9.5 mm thick. Ensure your chassis depth can accommodate the 7.44 inch length.
