The Orico 3559C3 is a five-bay aluminium enclosure that accepts 2.5 and 3.5 inch SATA hard drives or SSDs. It connects to a host via USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C and includes a built-in 150 W power supply. The unit targets users who need high-capacity external storage without configuring RAID.

Sustained Load Behaviour

An 80 mm silent fan provides active cooling across all five bays during extended transfers. The controller enters an automatic sleep mode after ten minutes of inactivity, reducing drive wear and power draw. Each bay supports up to 16 TB, giving a total of 80 TB in a single enclosure.

Interface Practical Limits

The USB 3.1 Gen 2 link tops out at 10 Gbps, so combined throughput from all drives cannot exceed that ceiling. Two Type-C ports allow daisy-chaining up to three enclosures for a theoretical 240 TB pool, but the upstream 10 Gbps bottleneck remains. The enclosure works with Windows, Mac and Linux without extra drivers.
