Server ECC RDIMM kit

This OWC kit provides 64GB of DDR3 1600 ECC registered memory across four 16GB modules. It is built for Supermicro SuperServer 1017GR and 1017R series systems that require registered DIMMs with error correction. Workstations and standard desktop computers cannot use this memory type. Buyers needing unbuffered or non-ECC modules for consumer platforms must choose a different product.

Straightforward DIMM installation

The 240-pin modules seat into standard DDR3 RDIMM slots on the supported Supermicro boards. No heat spreaders are fitted, so clearance around tall CPU coolers is not reduced. The most common issue is mixing these registered DIMMs with unbuffered memory or populating slots in an order the server firmware does not expect. Follow the system manual’s population rules and keep all modules identical.

Verify server model and slot count

Confirm the chassis is a Supermicro SuperServer 1017GR or 1017R before ordering. Check that four DDR3 RDIMM slots are available and that the firmware supports 2Rx4 16GB modules at 1.5V. The kit replaces Supermicro part numbers MEMDR316LSL03ER16 and MEMDR316LSV01ER16. Systems requiring different voltages, ranks, or unbuffered memory will not be compatible.
