SMUGDESK HRB8825 Dual Stepper Motor Driver HAT 1/32 2.5A

SKU CH-HEP0-2E2ZB

Stackable HAT drives two bipolar stepper motors with up to 1/32 microstepping and 2.5A per channel for Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano

  • Dual-axis control via two independent HR8825 driver chips
  • Ultra-smooth motion with 1/32 microstepping via DIP switches
  • Safe 2.5A per channel output with adjustable current limiting
  • Stacks on any Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano via 40-pin header
  • Open-source Python and C demos accelerate development

Dual HR8825 Stepper HAT

The HRB8825 is a stackable motion control board that plugs directly into the 40-pin header of any Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano. Two independent HR8825 driver ICs each drive a 4-wire bipolar stepper motor, giving makers and engineers a compact way to add coordinated X/Y movement to 3D printers, CNC engravers or robotic arms.

Microstepping and current limits

Six DIP-switch settings select step resolutions from full step up to 1/32 microstepping, reducing vibration at low speeds. Each channel peaks at 2.5A and carries a dedicated potentiometer to match the current to the motor, while the motor supply accepts 8.2V to 28V DC from common 12V or 24V adapters.

2.5A per channel output

The single specification that decides fit is the 2.5A peak per channel; motors requiring more current will overheat the drivers. Builders needing three or more axes, or motors rated above this current, must choose a different controller.

Fragen zu diesem Artikel

Should I use the 1/32 or 1/16 microstepping setting for my NEMA 17 motors?

Choose 1/32 microstepping for the smoothest low-speed motion and highest positioning resolution; drop to 1/16 if your control loop cannot supply step pulses fast enough at high velocities.

What does the 2.5A per channel rating mean when the board is stacked on a Raspberry Pi?

Each HR8825 driver can deliver up to 2.5A peak to a bipolar stepper; set the onboard potentiometer to match your motor’s rated current so the driver stays cool during continuous operation.

Can I power this HAT from a 12V supply and still run the Pi?

Yes, the motor supply accepts 8.2V to 28V DC; the onboard 5V regulator powers the Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano through the 40-pin header while the motors draw from the same source.
