Socket 1151 300 Series board
The ASRock H310CM-HDV is a micro ATX motherboard built on the Intel H310 chipset. It accepts 8th and 9th generation Intel Core processors in the LGA 1151 300 Series socket. Two 288 pin DDR4 slots support dual channel memory up to 32GB at 2666, 2400 or 2133 MT/s. A single PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and one PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot handle expansion cards.
Upgrade from older LGA 1151 CPUs
This board is not backward compatible with older LGA 1151 processors, so it replaces platforms that used 6th or 7th generation chips. The jump is worth it when moving to 8th or 9th generation CPUs that support Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. Four SATA3 6.0Gb/s ports with NCQ, AHCI and hot plug connect storage drives, and the PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot supports NVMe SSD boot devices.
Sustained load behaviour
The Realtek RTL8111H LAN controller provides 1Gbps wired networking for steady data transfers. Realtek ALC887 audio delivers 7.1 channel output when paired with an HD front panel audio module and the appropriate driver. Video output is handled by the processor integrated graphics through a D-Sub port and a DVI-D port, supporting DirectX 12 and Intel Quick Sync Video for hardware accelerated encoding. A PS/2 keyboard and mouse port remains available for legacy input devices.
