Z97 Pro4 Platform

The ASRock Z97 Pro4 is an ATX motherboard built for LGA 1150 processors. It supports 4th and 5th Generation Intel Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron CPUs as well as Xeon models. The board targets builders who need a full-size layout with legacy PCI slots alongside modern expansion.

32 GB DDR3 Headroom

Four DDR3 DIMM slots accept up to 32 GB of system memory in dual-channel mode. Supported speeds range from 1066 to 3100 MHz with overclocking profiles. Six SATA 6 Gb/s ports plus one SATA Express and one M.2 slot provide storage connectivity. The memory ceiling is reached when all four slots are populated with 8 GB modules.

Alloy Power Delivery

The 6-phase Digi Power design uses Premium Alloy Chokes and NexFET MOSFETs to reduce core loss. Nichicon 12K Platinum capacitors and a Sapphire Black PCB complete the power circuitry. Realtek ALC892 drives 7.1-channel audio. The board draws power through standard ATX and CPU connectors with no active cooling on the VRM heatsinks.

Will my existing DDR3 memory work at its rated speed without overclocking?

The board runs DDR3 at 1066, 1333 and 1600 MHz natively. Speeds above 1600 such as 1866, 2133, 2400, 2800, 2933 or 3100 require enabling an XMP profile or manual overclocking in the UEFI.

Can I install a 5th generation Core i5 and use the onboard video outputs?

Yes. The HDMI, DVI-D and VGA ports are driven by the processor's integrated graphics, so a 5th generation Core i5 with Intel HD Graphics will activate them.

How many SATA 6 Gb/s devices can I connect alongside an M.2 drive?

Six SATA 6 Gb/s ports are available. The M.2 slot shares bandwidth with the single SATA Express connector, so using an M.2 drive does not reduce the six standard SATA ports.
