The ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI 6E is an ATX motherboard built on the Intel Z790 chipset for LGA 1700 processors. It supports 12th 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core Pentium Gold and Celeron CPUs with a 16+1 DrMOS power stage design and ProCool sockets. Four DDR5 slots accept up to 192GB of memory and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles. The primary PCIe 5.0 x16 slot runs at 5.0 speeds only with 12th 13th or 14th Gen CPUs; older chips fall back to 4.0. M.2_1 and M.2_2 connect through the CPU and Z790 chipset respectively both capping at PCIe 4.0 x4 so the fastest consumer NVMe drives hit their ceiling here. Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 headers share chipset bandwidth so simultaneous peak throughput on every port is not guaranteed.
