Dual 10-core Xeon 1U server

The Dell PowerEdge R430 fits two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors, each running ten cores at 2.3 GHz, into a 1U rack chassis. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and three 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives on a PERC H730 RAID controller provide a ready-to-run platform for virtualisation hosts, database nodes or internal applications that need density and redundant power.

Upgrade from single-socket or older 2U units

Moving from a single-socket server doubles the core count to forty threads with Hyper-Threading, while the H730 controller adds RAID 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 capability that entry-level cards lack. The jump is worth it when workloads exceed the memory or drive-bay limits of a 1U single-processor box but the rack space budget stays at one unit.

Tool-less rails and hot-plug bays simplify install

The server slides into tool-less rails and the eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept drives without powering down. The single 550 W redundant supply means a second module must be added for full N+1 redundancy, and the iDRAC8 Express licence limits remote management until an Enterprise upgrade is applied. Memory population rules require balanced DIMM placement across the twelve slots for optimal speed.
