The Perc H730 manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS or SATA drives at 12 Gbps. Two 2 TB 7.2K SAS disks provide the starting array, while the controller cache absorbs write bursts during backup windows or batch jobs. Eight bays allow expansion to 80 TB raw capacity without adding external enclosures, keeping sustained I/O inside the chassis.

Platform limits defined by PCIe and memory topology

Five PCIe slots — three at 3.0 and two at 2.0 — set the ceiling for additional network or storage adapters. Memory scales to 384 GB across twelve slots, but speed is capped by the processor’s memory controller at 2400 MT/s. The C610 chipset and iDRAC8 remote management complete the feature set, while the Matrox G200eR2 handles basic console output.
