The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a performance-optimised 1U rackmount server built for virtualisation, file storage, databases and departmental applications. Two Intel Xeon Gold 6136 processors deliver 24 cores at 3.0GHz for both per-core and multi-threaded tasks. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory supports multiple services and virtual machines. Drives are not included so you can select capacity and type to match the workload.
Dual 10GbE and 1GbE networking with PERC H740P RAID
Networking uses dual 10GbE X540 ports and dual 1GbE I350 ports for flexible connectivity. The H740P RAID controller simplifies storage setup and day-to-day management. Eight 2.5-inch hot-swap trays are included ready for your chosen drives. Maximum memory capacity reaches 3TB across two processors when expansion is needed. No operating system is installed allowing your preferred hypervisor or OS.
Integrated graphics and standard rackmount thermals
Graphics are provided by an integrated GPU suitable for management and console output. The 1U chassis uses standard rackmount airflow with front-to-rear cooling for normal data-centre operation. Power and Ethernet LEDs give at-a-glance status alongside USB indicators. Weight is 60 units for rack planning. The system supports up to two processors and is already fully populated.
