Dense 1U compute node

The PowerEdge R650 packs two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors into a single rack unit, delivering 32 cores at 2.4 GHz with 3.4 GHz turbo for virtualization and database workloads. Eight registered ECC DDR4 modules provide 256 GB of memory at 2666 MHz. Ten 1.92 TB SATA SSDs sit behind a PERC H755 controller with 8 GB cache.

SATA throughput ceiling

All ten drives connect through the SATA 6 Gb/s interface, so sustained sequential throughput is bounded by that link rather than by the controller or PCIe Gen4 lanes. The H755 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, but write-heavy arrays will still hit the SATA bus limit before the PCIe bus saturates. NVMe drives are not installed in this configuration.

Dual 1400 W platinum redundancy

Two hot-swap 1400 W platinum power supplies share the load and maintain operation if one unit fails, a requirement for uninterrupted rack deployments. The OCP 3.0 quad-port 1 GbE adapter and iDRAC9 Enterprise module handle out-of-band management and network connectivity without consuming a PCIe slot.
