The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 5317 processors, each running at 3.0 GHz with 12 cores and 3.6 GHz turbo. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory are installed across four 16 GB modules. The platform targets dense virtualization, cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing in space-constrained racks.

Front-access storage and redundant platinum power

Eight 2.5-inch 600 GB 10K SAS drives connect to a PERC H745 RAID controller with 4 GB NV cache and battery backup, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Two hot-swap 1400 W platinum power supplies provide full redundancy. An OCP 3.0 dual-port 10 GbE SFP+ card and iDRAC9 Enterprise enable remote management and high-speed networking. Builders needing more drive bays or GPU acceleration should evaluate larger chassis.

Efficient cooling in a compact 1U form factor

Redundant fans and the 1U airflow design keep dual 12-core CPUs and eight SAS drives within thermal limits under sustained load.
