Dual-socket Xeon rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processors running at 1.9 GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across 24 DIMM slots, leaving room for large capacity upgrades. Eight 300 GB 15 000 rpm SAS drives connect through a PERC H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and a DVD-ROM complete the chassis.

Replaces single-socket or smaller arrays

The H730 controller maintains write throughput across rebuilds thanks to its dedicated cache. Four onboard 1 GbE ports handle steady network traffic, while seven PCIe 3.0 slots remain available for additional NICs or accelerators. Remote management via iDRAC8 allows monitoring and firmware updates without physical access.
