The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo. Each CPU delivers 16 cores, giving 32 threads total for heavily threaded workloads such as virtualisation clusters, database nodes or high-performance computing jobs. The system ships with 512 GB of DDR4-2400 registered ECC memory across 16 modules, leaving eight slots free for future expansion up to 1.5 TB.

10-bay SAS storage and quad-port networking

Ten 2.5-inch drive bays are populated with 600 GB 10 K SAS disks driven by a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery-backed write cache. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. A quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections for storage and client traffic. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides dedicated remote management, and ready rails with a front bezel simplify rack installation.
