The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system built around two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. Twenty-eight total cores and 128 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory provide a solid foundation for virtualization clusters, database nodes and high-performance computing tasks. The platform supports up to 1.5 TB of memory across 24 DIMM slots for future growth.

10 x 600 GB SAS drives with H730 RAID headroom

Ten enterprise 2.5-inch 10 K SAS drives deliver 6 TB of raw capacity behind a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery backup. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are all supported, giving flexibility for redundancy or throughput. The 12 Gb/s SAS interface keeps the array fed, though the 10 K spindles will saturate before the controller does under heavy random write workloads.

Quad-port networking and iDRAC8 Enterprise included

A daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible LAN and storage networking without consuming a PCIe slot. iDRAC8 Enterprise provides full out-of-band management, virtual console and lifecycle automation from day one. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies, sliding rails and a front bezel complete the package so the server can be racked and commissioned immediately.
