Dual-Socket Xeon Server for Virtualised Workloads

The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors, each delivering 14 cores at 2.4 GHz with a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 768 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 24 slots, leaving room to expand toward the 1.5 TB maximum. The platform targets midsize and large enterprises running databases, virtual desktop infrastructure or high-performance computing nodes.

Sustained Multi-Threaded Throughput

Dual 14-core CPUs provide 28 threads per socket, allowing the system to maintain high throughput during extended compute jobs such as data-warehouse queries or HPC simulations. The 750 W platinum power supplies operate in redundant hot-swap mode, so a single supply failure does not interrupt the workload. iDRAC 8 Enterprise gives administrators remote power, console and firmware control without needing physical access to the rack.

PERC H730 Controller with 1 GB Cache

Storage is managed by a Dell PERC H730 RAID controller backed by a 1 GB battery-protected cache, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. Two 800 GB SATA SSDs are installed in the eight-bay 2.5-inch chassis, leaving six bays open for additional SAS or SATA drives. Network connectivity comes from an Intel X520/I350 daughter card providing two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports.
