The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug bays into a 2U rack frame. A single Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor at 2.4 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory drive the platform. Three 300 GB 15K SAS drives and an H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache are installed. The system targets teams that need high spindle count in minimal rack space.

Dual 750 W supplies share load for redundancy

Two hot-swap power modules operate in parallel so a single failure does not interrupt service. The 2U chassis uses front-to-rear airflow across the drive bay zone and the CPU heat sinks. Fan speeds scale with inlet temperature and drive activity. Acoustic output is typical for a density-optimised rack server in a data-centre aisle.

H730 controller enables broad RAID choice
