The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack server built for storage-dense workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor at 1.9GHz and 48GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots. The chassis supports up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives and includes a DVD-ROM drive. Dual 750W redundant power supplies are fitted as standard.

Moving to this platform adds a second processor socket and 24 drive bays compared with single-socket 1U or 12-bay systems.
