The Dell PowerEdge R740xd chassis holds twelve 3.5-inch drive bays in a 2U rack frame. Two Xeon Gold 6226 processors at 2.7 GHz and 256 GB of DDR4 ECC memory provide the compute base for storage-heavy workloads. The PERC H730P RAID controller manages the SATA array. No drives are installed, so capacity is chosen by the buyer.
Build Integration
The system arrives with dual 1100 W power supplies and a 10 GbE two-port 562T adapter for high-throughput networking. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote firmware updates and power control without a local console. A rail kit can be added on request for standard rack mounting. Twelve front bays free internal space otherwise used by smaller drive cages.
