Dual Xeon Gold 6134 server

The Dell PowerEdge R740xd is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors running at 3.2 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides eight cores for a total of sixteen cores across the system. It is designed for software-defined storage, service-provider workloads or virtual desktop infrastructure deployments.

Sustained load behaviour

The system includes 512 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory installed across sixteen modules. Redundant 1100 Watt platinum-efficiency power supplies maintain delivery during continuous operation. The PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache and battery-backed write cache supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for data protection under heavy I/O.

12 Gb/s SAS interface limits

Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays accept SAS or SATA drives connected through the 12 Gb/s controller. The quad-port network daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections for uplink flexibility. iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables remote management independent of the operating system. Ready Rails and a front bezel are included for rack installation.
