The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rackmount server built for data-intensive workloads that demand high storage density. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6150 processors, each running at 2.7 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency and 18 cores. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory across four modules and a Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller. This server fits software-defined storage clusters, big data analytics platforms, backup repositories and media archives that need maximum drive bays in a 2U form factor. Workloads requiring more than two processors or memory beyond 1 TB also fall outside this platform.
