The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rack server built for storage-dense workloads. It ships with twenty-six 3.5-inch drive bays populated by 8 TB 7.2K SATA drives. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6150 processors each deliver eighteen cores at 2.7 GHz with 3.7 GHz turbo. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC registered memory across four modules.

PERC H330 controller and dual 1100 W PSUs

A Dell PERC H330 storage controller manages the SATA and SAS drives through a 12 Gb/s interface. Hot-swap redundant 1100 W platinum power supplies support continuous operation during maintenance. Network connectivity combines an integrated dual-port 1 GbE LOM with a Broadcom 57414 dual-port 10/25 Gb SFP28 OCP 2.0 mezzanine card. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides remote management. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Scales to 1 TB DDR4 across sixteen slots

Two processor sockets are fully populated, so compute upgrades would require replacement rather than expansion.
