Dual Xeon Gold 6430 compute

The PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold 6430 processors running at 2.1GHz with a 3.4GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU delivers 32 cores for a total of 64 cores, targeting virtualization, database and AI workloads that demand high thread counts. The system ships with 768GB of DDR5-4800 ECC registered memory across 24 modules, leaving 8 slots free for expansion toward the 8TB maximum capacity.

Front storage and remote management

Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays accept SAS, SATA and NVMe drives, while the installed H965i controller with 8GB NV cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 arrays. Eight drive trays are included for immediate population. A Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 adapter handles network connectivity and iDRAC9 Datacenter provides dedicated out-of-band remote management with lifecycle automation. Dual 1400W platinum power supplies and ready rails complete the rack-ready package.

PCIe Gen5 platform constraints

The server supports 4th and 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors in the LGA 4677 socket, locking the platform to this processor family for future upgrades. Memory operates exclusively in DDR5 ECC registered form factor, so earlier DDR generations cannot be used. Storage performance scales with the PCIe Gen5 backplane, but the installed 1GbE networking may limit throughput for distributed storage or high-density virtualization clusters without additional OCP cards.
