The Dell PowerEdge R930 is a 4U rack server equipped with four Intel Xeon E7-8867 v4 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with 16 cores. It ships with 384 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 48 DIMM slots and includes a PERC H730P 2 GB RAID controller. Suits memory-heavy workloads; not for GPU compute

This server targets organisations running in-memory databases, large-scale virtualisation, ERP or analytics platforms that benefit from up to 12 TB of DDR4 capacity and 96 total cores. The Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory provides only basic console output, so buyers needing GPU acceleration for AI training, rendering or VDI should look elsewhere. The 24-bay 2.5-inch layout supports extensive SAS or SATA storage, but the installed drives are SATA SSDs only.

The system arrives with 384 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory populated across 48 of the 96 available DIMM slots. This capacity fits many consolidation and virtualisation scenarios immediately, while the remaining slots allow expansion up to the platform maximum of 12 TB. Memory type and speed are fixed to DDR4 registered ECC; other generations or unbuffered modules are not compatible.
